Weekly Music and ELA Program

Over 10 – 12 sessions, STYLE will take students on a journey through books, music education, songwriting, movement and performance. With students Grades 1 – 5, students will build a deeper personal and critical understanding of a book through collaboration with their peers in this creative, project-based learning experience. Each class will work with professional songwriters, musicians, dancers, producers, and studio engineers to complete this impactful project.

We follow the Common Core State Standards and 21st Century Skills.

Weekly Music and ELA Program Includes:

  • STYLE teaching artist(s) over 10-12 sessions (once per week)
  • Performance of songs inspired by books for each class
  • Cross-curricular lessons in ELA critical thinking and musical concepts
  • General Music education appropriate for grade level expectations
  • Follows Common Core State Standards in ELA and Music
  • Extended in-class songwriting sessions for classes
  • Password protected web page for each class
  • Professionally produced instrumental track guided by the students
  • Professional mobile recording studio brought to your school
  • Recording of each class’s creation (Mp3 made available on each class’s web page)
  • Professional Choreographer to create unique dance for each class

Project Based Learning

Students work in a highly collaborative environment, building lasting connections to reading, music, fellow classmates, and the world.

We challenge students to think critically and connect the themes of a book to themselves, to other texts, and to real world problems.

Collaborate

Students collaborate in the songwriting process, applying their connections and conversations to generate a song inspired by the book.

Create

Taking their collaborative work to the next level, students create artwork and a professional recording of their song using 21st century skills and technology.

STYLE Programs

Library Program

STYLE works with every single class inside your elementary school during scheduled library time. Every class will create a song inspired by a book read in class.

Weekly Music and ELA Program

Thunderbird / Seahawks

Create a sports anthem inspired by the Native American story of the Thunderbird.

MLK Assembly and more…

Create music inspired by the life and messages of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Sound FX and Storytelling through Sound

This program focuses on the creation of sound effects inside movies TV, video games, live theater and radio.

5 Day Residency

We will take your students on a journey from finding inspiration in a book, to recording in a professional recording studio environment.

5 Day Program with Video Lessons

Your students will journey through the songwriting and recording process inspired by a book taught by Teaching Artists from all over the country through 3 Days of video lessons. The final 2 days of the session will be with STYLE’s Songwriting and production team in the classroom.

Assembly

We’ll come to your school and put on a music/reading oriented assembly. Educational and fun!

Assembly Plus

It’s our standard assembly program plus some additional individual classroom sessions.

Variety Show

STYLE performs a full concert of music inspired by the children’s books we all love.

Harry Potter

A full STYLE concert inspired by the beloved novels of JK Rowling!

Winnie the Pooh

A full STYLE concert inspired by AA Milne’s beloved tales!
