Dance and Movement

Let’s collaborate together through the inspiration of books!

STYLE Teaching artist Franchesska Berry will get kids up and active inside their own classroom (in-person/virtual). We will represent stories using dance and movement. This is a fantastic way to be creative with movement, with our bodies and learn some stories from our wonderful Teaching Artist.

This session can be an addition to our songwriting program. Students can create movements that are inspired by the songs students already created. It’s another way to look at books and other subjects from a different angle.

Franchesska Berry, Dancer & Intercultural Arts Education Specialist will provide a Traditional African Music and Dance Residency or class. Franchesska Berry’s introduction to West African Dance and Culture—Student learners are greeted in the languages of Wolof and French. Western students are immediately transformed into international intercultural students The cultural immersion experience is supplemented by a lecture, question, answer sessions regarding West African culture, along with hands on interactive sharing of contemporary West African dance, music and cross cultural experience.
