They want to take my freedom
Take away my choice
They don’t care what im thinking
Strip away my voice
but I got big dreams
They don’t see me coming
They gon’ hear from me
They wont catch me running
Got me runnin’, Limestone cuttin’
Trynna dodge all the crime and corruption
System trippin, they wanna see me dipped in
Well of sacrifice, you know that aint right
I’m on a heist to save my brother and his wife
So that they can have a nice life
I’m on a mission So come sit and listen
… Now peep the transition
Group 2: Flynn, Carlito, Lily, Theo, Taylor, Farah, Royal
Food is the money
Money is the power
Power is corrupted
So now is the hour
Takin’ over got em obsessed
Leavin all the people oppressed
Take back my freedom
Take back my power
No more brutality now
Food is the money
Money is the power
Power is corrupted
So now is the hour
Watch out we commin for the crown
Takin all the haters down
Take back my freedom
Take back my power
No more brutality now
Shame on the authority
Tryin to make me small
They don’t want no smoke with me
No not at all
I got my community, family
All of them backing me
Makin me 10 feet tall
I got all that I need
Plus integrity
Say that you’ll please
Believe in me
Eveningstar Macaw lives in a glorious Mayan city in the ninth century. When the king falls ill and dies, the city begins to crumble. An evil high priest, Great Skull Zero, orders the sacrifice of those who might become king, including Eveningstar’s beloved brother. Suspicious of the High Priest’s motives, Eveningstar attempts to save her brother, thus becoming an acknowledged enemy of the High Priest. Condemned to be thrown into the Well of Sacrifice, Eveningstar must find a way not only to save her own life but to rescue her family and her city from the tyrannical grasp of Great Skull Zero. Set against the vivid background of everyday life at the height of the Mayan golden age and illustrated with striking black-and-white paintings, Eveningstar’s candid, gripping, and not-for-the-faint-of-heart account of the last days of a great city will have readers at the edge of their seats. Afterword.
Okey Doke
Nate B and Tiffany Wilson
The Well of Sacrifice
VI:
We got choices to make right or wrong
Sometimes doing your own thing
Makes you strong
When the walls are closing in
Hope is gone
You may be on the outskirts
Don’t belong
B Sec:
But you don’t roll with the okey doke
Deep down you know
You’re here to fix what’s broken
Hook:
Even if it means you’ll do it all alone x2
VII:
Know the seeds that we’re planting
Soon will grow
And with each action you reap
What you sow
B Sec:
So please don’t fall the okey doke
And know we’re here to give each other hope
Hook:
Even if it means you’ll do it all alone x2
Nate B:
Think about all of the words you’re sayin
Every game out there ain’t worth playin
I only know from experience,
I made many mistakes if you’re curious
Follow your heart and do the right thing
Think about others don’t act selfishly
Step into the dark if you work for the light
All good things take sacrifice.
B Sec:
So please don’t fall the okey doke
And know we’re here to give each other hope
Hook:
Even if it means you’ll do it all alone x2
